Wine And Gold Weekly: Cavaliers In Sessions

In this edition of "Wine And Gold Weekly", the Cavs make the first trade of the post-LeBron era by sending Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair to the Minnesota Timberwolves for PG Ramon Sessions, Center Ryan Hollins and a 2nd-round pick. This move does give our Cavaliers some needed scoring and speed in the backcourt.

Current Cavs PG Mo Williams played with Sessions in Milwaukee so that will help the transition for Sessions in coming to Cleveland. Ryan Hollins isn't a great Center but will give Cleveland some of the size back that they lost with the departures of Shaq and big Z. We now will eventually need another true Center from the looks of it because I don't see Shaq returning to Cleveland andto be honest I hope he doesn't. With Z signing with Miami, it will be a high priority to acquire another big man.
The Cavs are going to be running alot more fast paced offense and with this system comes the need to be athletic and young, not to mention the ability to be able to run up the court and finish strong. Head coach Byron Scott also wants more ball movement on the offensive end which in return means more assists. When I heard that, I thought to myself, if we can get the right players within a year or 2 then we might be able to make some noise once again in the playoffs.
Now, one more thing I would like to mention is the following, I was really glad to hear about and read Dan Gilbert's letter to the fans and how much heart he really put into it. Now with that being said, I can't agree with what he said about Cleveland winning a title before Miami. I wish he would have waited a day or 2 and let everything sink in before he made the statements that he did. Although I am proud of what he said for the most part, the fact is that Cleveland won't be a #5 seed or higher in the playoffs if they even make the playoffs this year. n Other than that, I have no problem with what he said. Well, that does it for another edition of "Wine and Gold Weekly", and until next week, have a good one everybody!
