Wednesday’s game at Progressive Field is definitely one to forget for the Tribe.
The Yankees took Game 3 of the four-game series as they shut down the Indians, 8-0. For the ninth time this season, the Indians have been shut out by their opponent.

If Wednesday were Fausto Carmona’s audition for other teams, he may have pitched his way back on the Tribe. In just 2 2/3 innings, Carmona (L, 10-8) surrendered 7 runs on 10 hits, and stuck out just one batter.
A.J. Burnett (W, 9-8) allowed a base runner in every inning he pitched, but he held the Tribe scoreless in six and a third, giving up seven hits and seven strikeouts.
Much of the home crowd left Progressive Field after Alex Rodriguez popped out in the eighth inning. Once again, Rodriguez was held homer-less, though he was 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and an RBI single.
Carmona dispatched of Derek Jeter and Nick Swisher to start the first, but Mark Teixeira doubled to right to set up for Rodriguez. As the flashbulbs illuminated the stadium, Rodriguez singled in Teixeira to put New York up 1-0.
The Yankees increased the lead in the second. Brett Gardner singled in a run and later came around to score, along with Francisco Cervelli, on Teixeira’s single to make it 4-0.
Three more Yankees came in to score in the third as well. Curtis Granderson tripled in the first run, Gardner doubled in the second, and Swisher smoked a single to cap a three-run inning and Carmona’s evening.
The final run of the night came off the bat of Robinson Cano. Cano led off the fourth with a solo shot off Hector Ambriz, and that made the game 8-0.
Ambriz settled down, and along with Jess Todd, Frank Herrmann, and Tony Sipp, the bullpen held the Yankees scoreless.
Luis Valbuena saw some brief action on Wednesday. He was recalled from AAA-Columbus just before the game after the trade of third baseman Jhonny Peralta to the Detroit Tigers.
