The Kid’s Top College Predictions and Thursday NFLSeptember 09, 2010 - By Anthony Antoon
I had a pretty good start to the college football season last week, as my top predictions went an outstanding 4-1-1 against the spread. I had Michigan winning straight up and called their points exactly at 30, but did not give their defense enough credit, as I had them winning 30-28, and not covering the 3, in my only loss of the week. The NFL season is finally upon us, and since I post my NFL predictions every Friday, I have decided to include Thursday games with my college predictions. Here are my week 2 top predictions: ![]() The Buckeyes need a big game out of Daniel "Boom" Herron and their running game on Saturday vs. Miami. Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints (-4.5) - We have a great game to start the NFL season, as it will be a rematch of the NFC Championship game, which could have gone either way. The Saints have to be careful of the dreaded Super Bowl hangover, but their head coach , Sean Payton, and QB, Drew Brees, will have their team ready. The Vikings are a top team in every aspect of the game, but Brett Favre came into camp late, and his timing will not be right just yet. They are also without their top WR Sidney Rice. Most predict a high-scoring affair, but I think the defenses w Read More |
Angels Down Tribe in 16 InningsSeptember 09, 2010 - By Dan Battaglia
In one of the more classic games of the 2010 season, the Indians fell a little short of sweeping the Angels as they were defeated in 16 innings Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
The Indians entered the ninth inning trailing 3-2, with the Angels turning to closer Fernando Rodney to shut the door. Matt LaPorta led off the inning with a single and advanced into scoring position on an infield hit by Jason Donald. That would set the stage for Jayson Nix in the pinch hitter role to deliver a game tying RBI single to left field. The Tribe would be unable to push any more across in the 9th, and little did they know at the time that they were heading for their longest game of the season. The Angels made threats to end the game in the 9th inning on a failed attempt to take home on a wild pitch, and again in the 10th on what looked to be a homerun by Juan Rivera that Michael Brantley scaled the wall to bring back to save the game in the moment. The Halos also loaded the bases in the 11th but were once again sent away on an Erick Aybar suicide squeeze attempt popped up to Lou Marson for the third out. |
Browns Bites Weekly: My Preseason MVP And A Look AheadSeptember 09, 2010 - By Nick Broulis
Well in this edition of "Browns Bites Weekly" I wanted to start off discussing my opinions on the Browns performance during the preseason as well as my MVP and a look ahead to the week one match-up at Tampa Bay. First things first, I gave the Browns offense a B and here's why. They showed me that they can be more creative but at the same time I saw that they actually had a game plan each week and knew what they wanted to do. ![]() RB Peyton Hillis is going to play a huge role for the Browns this season. Both Delhomme and Wallace looked great and McCoy, after having some rough times to start his career off, finished alright going 13 of 13. The defense looked to be improved which is why I'm giving it a C but Cleveland must do a better job at stopping the run or it will be a long day regardless of who the opponent is. Joe Haden had a pretty solid first four games and showed us that he might definitely be here for the long haul and T.J. Ward really showed me that, if giving the time and chance, he could potentially be mentioned in the same breath as the Ed Reed's of the league. Then you have the running game that impressed me a lot. James Davis showed why he could be a threat wh Read More |
